MB 208 is a kind of magnesium aluminum silicate thixotropic agent. It is low viscosity, easy dispersion, excellent suspension, good thixotropy, non-toxic, tasteless, environment-friendly. MB 208 is made of natural saponite and montmorillonite minerals by several production process such as purification, modification, activation, restoration, gelatinization and nanocrystallization etc.
The main characteristics of MB 208 are as follows:
- Good appearance: the product has high whiteness, good brightness, and wide application range;
- Excellent dispersibility: it can disperse in water quickly;
- Anti electrolyte: the viscosity of this product is low, and it has good dispersion, suspension and thixotropy in hard water and aqueous system containing more cations;
- Excellent suspension property: it creates good suspension effect in different suspension systems including solid particles, emulsion, gas and so on, making the system homogeneous and stable.
- High thixotropic value: low viscosity at high shear force, high viscosity at low shear force, over 7 thixotropy index, which can greatly improve the thixotropic and rheological properties of the wet system, and give good smoothing effect and workability;
- High Stability: the product is a natural inorganic gel, which has the characteristics of no chemical reaction of the system, and does not create mildew, good stability over the time.
- Excellent compatibility: when used together with organic thickeners such as carboxymethyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl cellulose, methyl hydroxypropyl cellulose and their modifiers, the amount of organic thickener can be reduced by 10-20%, and the excellent synergistic effect can be achieved together with the organic thickener to better improve the suspension, thixotropy, rheological and smoothing properties.

(1) Apparent viscosity is tested by NDJ viscometer 4# spindle 60 rpm for 5% water dispersion system standing 24h.
(2) The dispersion is prepared by product dissolved in water with specific concentration, or diluted by high concentration solution (such as 5%), then 15min high speed stirring.

Application of MB 208
MB 208 is suitable for suspension and thixotropic agent in water-based system under various conditions, especially for rheological agent and lubricant in mortar, putty and corresponding paste system.
- Suspension stability: As an excellent suspension material in water-based system, the product can prevent sedimentation, bleeding, and maintain the homogeneity and stability of the system;
- Thixotropic Property: This product shows excellent thixotropic property. It can be used as thixotropic agent to improve the rheological properties not only for putty and mortar, but also for water-borne coating and water-based pesticide product.
